Irena Jun headlines a stirring monodrama adaptation of Tadeusz Różewicz’s *The Old Woman Exits* on Central Square, part of the summer program on Parade Square.
Event Details
On Saturday, August 23, at 7:00 PM, Studio Theatre will stage Tadeusz Różewicz’s *The Old Woman Exits* with Irena Jun as the sole performer on Central Square. This event is part of the summer program hosted on Parade Square.
Thematic Relevance
One of Różewicz’s most poignant works, *The Old Woman Exits* explores a world exhausted by civilizational progress and resource loss. The titular character offers a hopeful perspective through her wisdom and irony, juxtaposing ancient natural knowledge against modern decay.
The Protagonist’s Role
Różewicz’s portrayal of the Old Woman serves as a response to the crisis of rapid civilizational development. Her presence, imbued with irony and timeless insight, provides solace and a path to reclaim what the author calls “the trash heap of civilization” and “the world’s dumping ground.”
Production Team and Format
Directed by an artist, accompanied by music from Tadeusz Wielecki and visuals by Piotr Lachmann, the monodrama returns in a revised 50-minute format without intermissions. This version premiered on April 5, 2024, at Studio Theatre.
Future Performances
The Central Square performance is followed by a series of additional shows. The next planned performance is in September at the Studio Theatre headquarters (Parade Square 1, PKiN).
Ticket Information
Tickets for the monodrama are now available. Prices at Studio Theatre range from 15–65 zł, with discounted 35 zł entry tickets also offered.
