“I have just arrived in Kyiv, Ukraine. On Ukraine’s Independence Day and during this critical moment in the history of their nation, Canada is increasing its support and efforts toward a just and lasting peace in Ukraine,” wrote Mark Carney on X.
Regional Diplomatic Engagements Ahead
Between August 25 and 27, the Canadian prime minister will visit Poland, Germany, and Latvia. Carney will meet with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Monday. According to a statement from Carney’s office, the visit to Warsaw aims to strengthen cooperation in trade, energy, and defense. “Prime Minister Carney also emphasized Canada’s unwavering support for lasting peace in Ukraine and Europe, stressing that no decisions about Ukraine should be made without Ukraine, and no decisions about Europe should be made without Europe,” the statement read.
