The Chorzów prosecution announced on Sunday (August 24) that the 47-year-old suspect has been charged with murder related to the incident in Chorzów on Friday (August 22). The regional prosecutors in Katowice stated that evidence justifies a request for the suspect’s temporary detention. Prosecutor Aleksander Duda revealed that the accused has not admitted to the crime and has not provided explanations.

The attack occurred on Friday around 2:15 PM in Chorzów (Silesia Province). A man present at the scene was repeatedly stabbed with a knife and could not be revived despite resuscitation efforts. Witnesses identified the attacker, who was later arrested by police. The victim, a 52-year-old Ukrainian citizen, died at the scene.

Details About the Attacker: Neighbors’ Accounts

Police reported that the attacker was a man experiencing homelessness. “Residents gave him food and mostly ignored his shouting, which felt more like noise than a direct threat,” one Chorzów resident told TVN24. Witnesses said the man took a knife from a nearby shop and ran toward the victim. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.
