A fire broke out at a tire processing facility in Szczecin around 1:00 AM on the night of Saturday to Sunday (August 23-24). The blaze originated in a warehouse storing oils and shredded tires. Ten individuals were evacuated from the site, with one reported injured, according to local authorities.
RCB Issues Nighttime Alert: “Do Not Approach”
At 3:00 AM, the Central National Security Center (RCB) issued an alert advising the public to avoid the area. The warning stated: “Attention! Fire at a tire processing plant in Szczecin (Ks. Kujota Street). Do not approach the fire location. Do not open windows. Monitor emergency service updates.” The RCB confirmed the alert was activated in Szczecin, West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
Operations Underway to Extinguish the Fire
Access to the building was restricted, with firefighting efforts conducted externally. According to Captain Franciszek Goliński of the Szczecin Municipal Fire Department, the combustion of shredded tires requires significant amounts of water and extinguishing agents. On Sunday morning, West Pomeranian Voivode Adam Rudawski announced that the situation had been brought under control, and extinguishing operations were continuing.
