On the night of Saturday, August 23, a tragic incident occurred on the A2 highway near Tarnawa Rzepińska (Lubusz Voivodeship), between the Rzepin and Torzym junctions. Just before 11:00 PM, a Volvo truck carrying tulip saplings hit a toll booth at the toll collection point. The vehicle overturned and then caught fire, burning completely. The driver died at the scene, unable to exit the cab. No injuries were reported among the highway staff.

Firefighting units rapidly arrived at the scene: The Sulęcin Fire and Rescue Unit, as well as the Torzym, Gądków Wielki, and Boczów Volunteer Fire Departments. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and secured the accident site.

The A2 highway heading toward Poznań was completely blocked for many hours, requiring detours through the Rzepin and Torzym junctions. Traffic was partially restored in the morning (around 10:00–12:00 AM), starting with one lane reopened and gradually returning to normal capacity.
