A taxi driver was attacked in Krakow on Friday, August 22nd, and a body found in a local pond is suspected to be the perpetrator’s.
Attack on Taxi Driver in Krakow
On Friday, August 22nd, around 5:00 PM, near Tauron Arena, an attack occurred involving a man later identified as the taxi driver. Two men exited the taxi, one collapsed nearby and lost consciousness, while the other fled. The driver was hospitalized, and the attacker escaped the scene.
Body Found in Pond
The Krakow City Police confirmed that on August 25th, around 7:00 PM, a fisherman discovered a man’s body in one of Krakow’s ponds. Preliminary examinations, based on the clothing and description, suggest the body is likely that of the attacker from the August 22nd incident. Investigators noted that the man was intensively searched for by police in the city on the same day.
Taxi Driver’s Account
The 41-year-old taxi driver, previously questioned by police, described the incident. He stated the attacker attempted to change the route during the ride, which is not feasible via taxi apps. The driver refused, after which he was stabbed. The motive was a dispute, and authorities confirmed the men did not know each other.
