Jarosław Kaczyński on the Dron Explosion

Jarosław Kaczyński participated in a meeting with party supporters in Bydgoszcz, addressing the incident of a Russian drone that fell in Osiny, Lubelszczyzna, on the night of August 19-20. He stated, “The fact that drones could fly over Poland undisturbed for some time is proof that in certain matters we even retreat. The anti-drone system, purchased at a considerable cost, was temporarily removed for modernization, which is essential. However, it was not replaced or updated. The drone wasn’t even noticed.” [https://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/wiadomosci/7,114884,32130130,mentzen-odpowiada-na-propozycje-kaczynskiego-sytuacja-sie-zmienila.html#anchorLink].

Kaczyński Sharp on the Minister of Justice

During the same speech, Kaczyński sharply criticized the new Minister of Justice, stating, “Żurek is acting somehow, I don’t know where he should be. Was it first behind bars? But there are signs in his statements and behavior that suggest he might have needed a more lenient approach in other institutions. Maybe he should be hospitalized for a while.” He previously claimed the government is “not worth anything.”

Deputy Minister of National Defense on the Osiny Drone Incident

Czesław Mroczek from the Ministry of National Defense (MSWiA) commented on the drone explosion in Osiny during an interview with TVN24, asserting, “All signs point to an explosive material incident.” When asked if it was a “wabik” drone (a term potentially referring to a tactical drone), he replied, “In light of my statement, it’s unlikely.” He added that the matter is under investigation.

Government Spokesperson Comments on the Drone Explosion

The government spokesperson, Adam Szłapka, stated in the “Facts After Facts” segment of TVN24, “Security services were immediately deployed, alongside the police and military. The site was secured, and investigations are ongoing. From morning discussions, the Ministry of National Defense was first involved, followed by the military.” He emphasized, “This is the first test by NATO or EU states. Moldova was tested repeatedly. It is Russia’s method of instilling fear, and we must not be afraid. We must inform our allies and ensure our systems function as effectively as possible. These tests are conducted to assess how states react to such incidents.”
