Crash Details
On Monday, August 25, 2025, at approximately 11:20 AM, a tragic incident occurred in Krzycko Wielkie, a village in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. A small aircraft, a Tecnam P2008JC MkII (SP-SML), crashed onto private property and immediately caught fire. Two people lost their lives in the subsequent blaze.
Rescue Services’ Findings
According to emergency services, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire. Following the intervention, they discovered two charred bodies on the plane’s wreckage.
Identified Victim: Jakub Pracharczyk
Hours after the tragedy, it was revealed that one of the victims was Jakub Pracharczyk, a 20-year-old Polish hammer thrower from OKS Skra Warsaw. The identity of the second victim remains undisclosed at this stage.
Investigation Underway
Policemen, firefighters, and prosecutors are currently operating at the crash site, while the Polish State Commission for the Investigation of Aviation Accidents will formally investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Police Statement on the Incident
“For several hours now, police officers have been working at the location of the aviation accident in Krzycko Wielkie, Włoszakowice commune. Around 11:00 AM, the plane crashed onto the private property’s garden. The aircraft was engulfed in flames. After the fire was extinguished, two charred bodies were found on board. Investigative procedures are underway under the supervision of the prosecutor, and we await the arrival of representatives from the Polish State Commission for the Investigation of Aviation Accidents,” the Leszno Police stated.
President’s Condolences
“A very tragic message. Jakub Pracharczyk, a young athlete from OKS Skra Warsaw in the hammer throw, who was a sports scholarship recipient from the Capital City of Warsaw, has died in a plane crash at the age of 20. He recently won the Polish Under-23 Vice-Championship and participated in international events wearing the national team jersey,” President of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski said, expressing profound sympathy for the athlete’s family.
