Incident Details
An explosion occurred in one of the apartments in a building on Częstochowska Street in Warsaw’s Ochocie district during the night of Sunday to Monday (August 24–25). According to Marek Możdżonek of the Warsaw City Fire Department, cited by tvnwarszawa.pl, the owner of the affected apartment sustained injuries but remained conscious and was hospitalized. Authorities evacuated 20 residents from the building where the explosion happened and 15 from the neighboring block.
Damage Assessment
The explosion shattered windows in several apartments and damaged parts of the walls. Shards of glass and window frames also damaged cars parked near the building. Structural damage to the block will be evaluated by architectural supervision authorities, while police are investigating the cause of the explosion.
Unconfirmed Reports About the Resident
Local Reporter cited accounts from neighbors of the man in the apartment where the explosion occurred. They claimed that police had repeatedly visited him in the past, including incidents where he allegedly drove his car into lampposts and a fence at the building’s entrance while under the influence of alcohol. Residents also reported that he occasionally shouted vulgarities from his window at others.
