Polish police have arrested 24 individuals in a major drug trafficking operation, while three face organized crime charges linked to the production of nearly 1.5 tons of methadone.
Arrests in Connection with Drug-Related Crime
The Capital Police Command revealed that 24 individuals were charged with trafficking significant amounts of psychotropic substances and stimulants. “Additionally, three people faced accusations of operating within an organized crime group and producing almost 1.5 tons of methadone,” reads the statement. According to the National Prosecution Office, methadone is used as a stimulant, euphoric, and empathogenic agent, describing it as a highly addictive drug where even a single dose poses health and life risks. 22 individuals were temporarily placed in custody by court order, while two others were subjected to police surveillance.
Seized Drugs, Cash, and Ammunition
During raids, officers recovered nearly 2.5 kg of methadone, 140 grams of amphetamines, methamphetamine, cocaine, and 30 MDMA tablets. The National Prosecution Office estimates the drugs’ value at over 180,000 PLN. Additionally, electronic scales, dozens of mobile phones, and 170,000 PLN in cash were seized to cover potential fines.
Ongoing Investigation
The investigation was initiated in March after the Capital Police Department’s Narcotics Division uncovered and shut down an illegal lab producing large quantities of synthetic drugs. At that time, three suspects were arrested. The National Prosecution Office’s Warsaw Branch noted that a months-long probe, overseen by the Mazowieckie Regional Office for Organized Crime and Corruption, uncovered the full scope and details of the criminal network.
