A tragic accident on the S7 highway near Nidzica resulted in the deaths of four family members, including 13-year-old Maja, a volunteer for the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy (WOŚP).
Accident Details
On July 27, 2025, around 4:00 a.m., a Skoda driven by a man collided with the rear of a stationary heavy truck on the S7 highway near the Nidzica South junction in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Four individuals were in the car, including three adults who died at the scene and Maja, a 13-year-old WOŚP volunteer, who was critically injured and transported to Olsztyn Hospital.
Three-Week Struggle
Maja spent three weeks in Olsztyn Hospital battling for her life. Her passing was publicly announced on August 21 via the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy’s social media accounts, marking the end of a prolonged fight.
Community Response
“With profound sorrow, we bid farewell to Maja, our courageous WOŚP volunteer, who lost her life in this tragic accident. We remember her through photos, her smile, and her dedication, which was shared by her loved ones,” stated a WOŚP message. The school and volunteer community honored her with emotional tributes during her time at School No. 139 in Warsaw.
Funeral Ceremony
Maja’s funeral took place on August 23, 2025, in Sulejów. She was laid to rest alongside her closest relatives who died in the accident.
