Typhoon Kajiki reached Vietnam on Monday, August 25, bringing torrential rain and powerful winds that severely impacted the country’s northern and central regions. According to the Vietnamese Information Agency, at least three people have died, and 13 others were injured.

Rice fields flooded, trees uprooted, and power outages disrupt daily life

Approximately 7,000 households in Vietnam suffered losses due to heavy rainfall and strong winds. Over 28,000 hectares of rice fields were inundated, while the typhoon also uprooted around 18,000 trees and caused significant damage to energy infrastructure. Power outages affected nearly 1.3 million consumers.

Typhoon Kajiki may strike Laos, Thailand, and China

Although Typhoon Kajiki’s strength has slightly weakened, it remains a serious threat. In northern Vietnam, heavy downpours are still expected in the coming hours, potentially leading to landslides and flash floods. The storm is forecast to move toward Laos, Thailand, and China, raising concerns for these regions.
