Ewa Wrzosek has been delegated to the Ministry of Justice as a general counselor, tasked with overseeing matters related to the national prosecution office and advising the minister on high-profile cases. The move has sparked widespread reactions, including praise from the ruling coalition and criticism regarding potential legal overreach.
Ewa Wrzosek in the Ministry of Justice
The Prosecutor General, Ewa Wrzosek, was delegated to the Ministry of Justice on August 25, 2025, assuming the role of general counselor in the Minister’s Office, as stated in the ministry’s communiqué published on August 26, 2025. She will be responsible for “current, substantive cooperation on behalf of the Minister of Justice, the Prosecutor General, with the National Prosecution Office” and will also “present recommendations regarding issues tied to the Prosecutor General’s work.”
A wave of reactions following the Ministry of Justice’s decision
The announcement of Ewa Wrzosek’s new position generated significant buzz in social media. Representatives from the ruling bloc expressed satisfaction with the ministry’s decision. “Ewa Wrzosek will support Waldemar Żurek in the Ministry of Justice! I don’t doubt many will scream from fear” – wrote Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz. “One of the best prosecutors, Ewa Wrzosek, has become the Minister of Justice’s general counselor. This decision signals accelerated activity by the prosecution in socially sensitive issues. An excellent choice” – commented Robert Kropiwnicki. However, alternative voices emerged. “Although Prosecutor Wrzosek fell in the battle for the ‘Strongest of the Strong’ 2025 title in a match against Roman Giertych, she earned the reward of becoming a general counselor in the Ministry of Justice. It will give her more time to politicize on X” – joked Sebastian Kaleta. “Quoting: It’s not a time to strictly adhere to the letter of the law. This will be official manual control of the investigations. Illegal on the whole” – stated Jacek Ozdoba.
Ewa Wrzosek’s career
Ewa Wrzosek has been associated with regional prosecution offices in Warsaw since the beginning of her career. She worked at the Warsaw-Mokotów, Warsaw-Wola, and Warsaw-Ochota prosecutors’ offices. In April 2020, she launched a high-profile investigation into the presidential elections. A few months later, in January 2021, she was among a group of prosecutors reassigned to distant units, ending up in Śrem. In 2024, she joined the National Council of Prosecutors and served as a service conditions advisor to the Minister of Justice. She was removed from her position in the ministry in December 2024 and returned to the regional prosecution office. In early 2025, she became part of the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office, where she led investigations, including those related to two towers. Her assignment there ended in June 2025. An ongoing investigation into Ewa Wrzosek in the prosecution office examines whether she exceeded her authority after journalists from Wirtualna Polska revealed that her court applications to block PiS’s actions regarding public media were created outside the prosecution office.
