Donald Tusk After Cabinet Council Meeting: Something Invaluable in Polish Politics

Tusk Emphasizes Unity in Key Policy Areas Despite Differences with Duda

Donald Tusk commented on the Cabinet Council meeting prior to his trip to Moldova with German and French leaders. “Regardless of all political differences, which are clearly visible between me and President Duda and his political camp, we are seeking common grounds for cooperation with the president,” he stated. He added that these areas primarily focus on security, international policy, and Poland’s strategic interests. “I reiterated my belief that wherever we manage to build a common space and collaboration for Poland, we treat it as something invaluable in Polish politics,” the prime minister said.

Tusk Readies for Tough Confrontations on Polish Issues

Tusk acknowledged his readiness to confront internal and political opponents in Poland on matters crucial to the country. “I am willing to engage in tough confrontations about important issues for Poland, from internal opponents to external political rivals,” he noted. He called the recent Cabinet Council meeting another successful attempt to address such challenges.

Clarifying Misunderstandings in Policy Discussions

Tusk expressed satisfaction with “the opportunity to correct the president’s statements under the cameras.” He argued that the president, being new to this role, deserves accurate information on Poland’s affairs. “I am glad to provide clarification on certain inaccuracies that arose in statements from ministers or the president’s advisors,” he said, citing the Central Communication Port project as an example. Duda had reportedly been surprised by the proposed speed limit of 250 km/h (approximately 210-220 km/h in practice) for high-speed rail, while Tusk’s project aims for over 300 km/h.
