A horse fell into a concrete well in the village of Szuminka, sparking a multi-hour rescue operation by firefighters.
Lubelskie. A horse fell into a well
On Sunday (August 24) at around 19:00, emergency services received a report that a horse had fallen into a concrete well on one of the properties in Szuminka, a village in the Włodawa district of the Lublin Voivodeship. Firefighters from the Włodawa County Fire Service Headquarters were dispatched. “Upon arrival, the team found the animal approximately one meter below ground level,” said the Włodawa County Fire Service Headquarters.
Rescue Operation in Włodawa
The firefighters secured the site and dug a trench to partially dismantle the well, enabling access to the horse. “A veterinary doctor was called to the scene to monitor the horse’s condition,” the firefighters reported. The horse was successfully rescued. “After the successful extraction, the rescuers filled the trench and the well. Crews from the Stawki and Różanka Fire Stations, as well as the Włodawa JRG unit, participated in the operation,” stated the Włodawa County Fire Service Headquarters.
Help from a Local Resident
The Włodawa firefighters also thanked a local resident. “The success would not have been possible without the selfless assistance of the owner of a excavator, who voluntarily used his equipment to save the horse. We extend our special gratitude,” the press release read. The entire operation lasted over eight hours.
