On August 26, Gdansk police attempted to stop a BMW driver, but the pursuit turned hazardous when a chasing police car crashed into another vehicle, leaving the officer unharmed but prompting an ongoing search for the fugitive.
Chase in Gdansk
On August 26, police tried to stop a BMW driver traveling along Sucharskiego Route toward S7. The driver fled, veering onto Elbląska Street and heading toward a tunnel. As the vehicle exited the tunnel, the trailing police car collided with another vehicle during a lane change. The entire chase lasted approximately six minutes.
Police Statement on the Accident
“Officers attempting to stop the vehicle using lights and sirens were involved in an accident after their car collided with another vehicle,” said the Pomeranian police in a statement. While no serious injuries were reported, one officer was hospitalized. Authorities noted efforts to apprehend the driver who escaped the checkpoint are ongoing. The suspect is driving a white BMW estate with Danish license plates numbered DN 93948.
Another Chase in Gdansk
A similar incident occurred in Gdansk on Sunday, August 24, when police tried to stop a Ford driver for a traffic violation. The man refused to comply, fled, and triggered a city-wide chase. He later lost control of his vehicle, collided with a fence, and fell into an adjacent ditch. Three people, including the driver, exited the car; passengers were detained, but the driver evaded capture. His evasion was short-lived, as he was arrested the following day in Tczew, according to Assistant Inspector Mariusz Chrzanowski from the Gdansk City Police.
