Unofficially: The Government Plans a ‘New Opening’. ‘Demonstrating That We Are Moving Forward’

The Polish government is preparing to unveil a “new opening” in early September, aiming to showcase progress on coalition commitments and address stalled initiatives outlined in its agreement with allies.

Unofficially: The Government Plans a ‘New Opening’

According to RadioZET.pl, each member of the government will present two to three key issues in the coming weeks, focusing on priorities outlined in the coalition agreement. A minister stated, “We are not revising the coalition program, but demonstrating that we are moving forward and fulfilling our obligations. Many of these ideas stem from the coalition agreement, which, for various reasons, has yet to be fully implemented.” The initiative is set to begin in early September, with the goal of consistently presenting and executing plans regardless of presidential approval.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk with Security Advisor

“Gazeta Wyborcza” reported that Robert Kupiecki, current Deputy Foreign Minister, will be appointed as Donald Tusk’s security advisor. This move allegedly aims to distance Tusk’s cabinet from Karol Nawrocki’s circle, which has been influential in foreign policy discussions regarding a ceasefire in Ukraine. Kupiecki will participate in NATO meetings focused on ending the war in Ukraine and advocate Poland’s position. The newspaper noted that the appointment is a preemptive step against the President’s office, as Nawrocki’s team claims exclusive authority over foreign policy decisions.

Poles’ Perception of the Government

A July CBOS survey revealed that 48% of respondents view themselves as opponents of the Tusk government, 32% as supporters, and 17% remain neutral. Three percent of respondents had no opinion.
