Niedzielski’s Statement
“A few hours ago, I became the victim of a brutal attack. I was beaten by two men shouting ‘death to traitors of the homeland.’ I received a punch to the face, followed by kicks while lying on the ground. The entire incident lasted a few dozen seconds before the perpetrators fled,” reported the former health minister on social media. He added that police and emergency services arrived at the scene within minutes. “I was taken to the hospital where detailed examinations and an autopsy were conducted. Though I am bruised and sore, I want to reassure you that no internal injuries were found. I also would like to thank the doctors at Siedlce Regional Hospital for their assistance and support,” wrote Niedzielski. He further noted that the police immediately secured surveillance footage from the scene.
Niedzielski Blames Kierwiński
“This entire incident is a result of tolerating hate speech, as well as the decision by Minister Kierwiński to remove my protection despite numerous threats directed at me in public spaces,” stated Niedzielski. He emphasized that he hopes the situation prompts politicians to reflect. “We are now on equal footing. Passivity will only lead to further escalation,” he warned. Former minister of digitization Janusz Cieszyński meanwhile claimed that Minister of State Security Marcin Kierwiński “is directly responsible for every blow suffered by the former health minister in connection with his work for Poland.” He added, addressing the politician, “Either resignation tomorrow or lifelong disgrace.”
