A 39-year-old intoxicated man in Warsaw’s Żoliborz district caused police intervention after threatening a woman without justification and striking a man waiting for a metro train. The man, found with nearly 1.0 percent blood alcohol content, faces up to three years in prison for his actions.

Drunk Man’s Aggressive Actions Lead to Police Intervention

A 39-year-old drunk man triggered a police response in Warsaw’s Żoliborz district after threatening a woman and striking a man waiting for a metro train. Officers quickly confirmed his identity and arrested him, revealing his blood alcohol level was nearly 1.0 percent. Earlier, the same man had disrupted order at the metro station by hitting a passenger, damaging a phone, and making unwarranted threats toward a woman about endangering her life and health. The victim reported feeling justified fear, prompting a criminal threat complaint. The man now faces charges for assault, property damage, and criminal threats, with potential for an enhanced sentence due to disregard for legal norms.

Incident Occurs Near Metro Station and Involves Shoplifting

Shortly before 9:00 AM, Żoliborz officers were called to Broniewskiego Street, where the man harassed pedestrians and committed a theft at a nearby shop. His chaotic behavior drew attention, leading to immediate involvement of law enforcement.

Suspect Identified and Detained by Police

Officers identified the suspect based on witness descriptions and placed him in a police cell. Alcohol tests confirmed his intoxication level, which combined with his earlier offenses, complicates his legal situation significantly.

Earlier Attack at Metro Station Involves Assault and Property Damage

Minutes before the 9:00 AM incident, the man approached a passenger at the metro station on Słowackiego Street, questioning them. After an unsatisfactory response, he attacked the passenger, shattered a phone’s earpiece, and threatened a woman without cause. The police confirmed that the threats caused legitimate fear in the victim, leading to the formal filing of a criminal threat report.

Once sobered, Żoliborz detectives formally charged the man with criminal threats and assault under conditions of gross disregard for legal order. This may allow the court to impose an exceptionally severe sentence, with a maximum potential prison term of three years.

Case Supervised by Warsaw Żoliborz District Prosecution Office
