Fast Reaction of Police: Serial Arsonist Arrested in Duzgunce

A 22-year-old man, suspected of multiple arson attacks, was arrested within hours by Ostrołęca police after a garage and a heavy-duty Renault truck were set on fire, causing losses of nearly 130,000 złoty.

Thanks to actions taken by officers from the Ostrołęca City Police Headquarters, the suspect was arrested within hours of the garage and heavy-duty Renault truck being set on fire. The fires caused losses of nearly 130,000 złoty. The 22-year-old will not avoid responsibility and will soon face trial for burglary and arson.

Fire Details and Initial Investigations

On Sunday (August 24) around 11 p.m., the duty officer at the Ostrołęca police station was informed of a garage fire. Three hours later, police received another report about a fire involving a parked heavy-duty Renault truck on one of Ostrołęca’s parking lots. The fire spread to a nearby Volvo truck as well.

Stolen Documents and Damage Assessment

During the investigation of the arsons, officers found out that before the fire, the registration documents and the driver’s personal items had been stolen from the Renault. Preliminary damage estimates from the fires reached nearly 130,000 złoty.

Police immediately started searching for the arsonist. They checked nearby stairwells and vacant buildings. Simultaneously, operational procedures were carried out. Within 30 minutes of the second report, officers arrested a man in one of the abandoned buildings suspected of the arsons. He turned out to be a 22-year-old resident of Ostrołęca.

Evidence and Criminal Charges

During the arrest, police found the driver’s personal items and the registration documents of the burned Renault in the vacant building where he was staying. The man was detained and placed in the police station’s holding area.

Thanks to the police and prosecutors, evidence was gathered that led to the charges of burglary and arson against the man. He will soon be answering for his actions in court.
