Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, the minister of family, labor, and social policy, appeared on TVN24’s “Facts After Facts” program. She initially praised the Cabinet Council meeting, stating that it was beneficial for the government to inform the president about the country’s situation. She explained that the Cabinet Council’s role is to communicate information to the head of state. The moderator asked about Duda’s subsequent vetoes, which emerged hours after the council session. – I must admit, when I heard about these new vetoes, my first thought was: oh, someone is retaliating against the Cabinet Council here – she said. – Indeed, if the president had intended to make a thoughtful decision as part of the declared dialogue, he likely would have explained his concerns or rationale, especially regarding the stance of someone from a rural background who wants to hinder rural operators and impose additional administrative burdens, she added. She later noted that Duda is increasingly using the veto tool, emphasizing that the government will address such actions through legislation and decrees, not just laws.

Anita Werner, the moderator, asked the minister about the confidential portion of the Cabinet Council proceedings. The public session had a tense atmosphere, with the prime minister and president exchanging sharp remarks. Dziemianowicz-Bąk said the public part of the meeting was “fine,” adding that the government representatives who spoke were well-prepared. She was then asked if the prime minister “evened things out” between the president and his advisors. – The prime minister informed, clarified, and corrected, because it is not a good situation for a newly elected president to live in illusions or errors, possibly introduced by someone intentionally or unintentionally – she added, using the issue of public finances as an example.

Donald Tusk commented on the Cabinet Council proceedings

– Regardless of political differences, which are evident to the naked eye between me and President Duda and his camp, we are seeking common ground for Poland’s interests – said the prime minister after the Cabinet Council meeting. He emphasized that the focus is on security, international policy, and Poland’s strategic interests. – I reiterated my belief that wherever we can create a shared space and cooperation for Poland, we treat it as invaluable in Polish politics – he stated. – We won’t ignore these differences. I am ready for tough confrontations over key issues for Poland, with both internal and political opponents. However, with the president of the Republic, we must continue searching for common areas. Today’s Cabinet Council was another, in my view, successful attempt at this – he added.
