A 42-year-old man died by suicide in a police patrol car on Solidarity Avenue in Warsaw on December 20 of last year. The suspect was being transported to the prosecutor’s office and had faced charges of document forgery and non-payment of child support.
Prosecution: Criminal Experiment Planned
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, led by the Warsaw-City Prosecutor’s Office. „During the investigation, dozens of witnesses have been questioned, security camera footage has been examined, and opinions from the Institute of Forensic Medicine and a toxicology expert were commissioned to determine the cause of death,” said Prosecutor Piotr A. Skiba, spokesperson for the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office. „A criminal experiment is also planned. The current procedures have not provided grounds for formal charges,” he added.
Police on the Results of the Investigative Procedure
„An investigative procedure was immediately initiated after the December 20 incident. One officer was exempted from disciplinary action due to no wrongdoing. For the second officer, a minor disciplinary violation was noted, but it had no impact on the event’s progression. Disciplinary action was waived due to his prior clean record, impeccable service, and positive evaluation. A disciplinary discussion was held with the officer,” stated the Warsaw Police Headquarters.
