The Public Sanitary Inspectorate in Grodzisk Mazowiecki announced on August 20, 2025, that water from Podkowie Leśna’s public water supply is not suitable for consumption or bathing due to recognized microbiological contamination. The city’s response included disconnecting its local water treatment station and rerouting supplies to the Brwinów municipal network.
Excessive Bacterial Levels Detected in Test Samples
Test samples revealed coliform bacteria levels of 6 NPL/100 ml (compared to the 0 limit) and enterococci levels of 2 jtk/100 ml (also 0 jtk/100 ml). The Public Sanitary Inspectorate based its assessment on analyses of samples taken from the city’s water supply network.
Sanepid Enforces Strict Usage Restrictions
According to the Sanepid decision, faucet water must not be consumed or used for meal preparation. It is also prohibited for washing fruits and vegetables, dishes, or clothing. The city stated that, after switching the water source, the current supply meets safety standards for consumption. It emphasized that the water treatment station in Podkowie Leśna remains offline, and corrective actions are underway, including network flushing and retesting.

The Regional Sanitary-Epidemiological Station confirmed that the Podkowie Leśna treatment facility remains disconnected. It revealed that the station is undergoing repairs and retesting. Reactivation will depend on results, which Sanepid will announce separately.
