Defense Minister Shares New Details on F‑16 Crash: Two Teams Working On Site

Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz confirmed that investigative teams are already on the ground in Radom following the fatal F‑16 crash that claimed the life of Major Maciej “Slab” Krakowian during AirShow rehearsals.

Operations underway at Radom Crash Site

Inspectors from the prosecutor’s office and the State Aviation Accident Investigation Commission are currently conducting operations at the site, with two separate teams working independently to fully clarify the incident.

Defense Minister Addresses Family Wishes

The minister emphasized that the family of the deceased pilot has received appropriate support, including psychological care, and requested that their privacy be respected.

Col. Norbert Chojnacki, former pilot, said the tragedy affected not only the F‑16 community but the entire national aviation community, promising unwavering support for the family of Major “Slab.”

The F‑16 Crash in Radom

On Thursday night, during exercises preceding an AirShow, an F‑16 crashed at Radom Airport, killing Major Maciej “Slab” Krakowian. The accident occurred as the 28‑th and 30‑th shows were scheduled, but the shows were subsequently cancelled. Major Krakowian was a seasoned pilot with over 1,400 flight hours, 1,200 of which were on the F‑16, and had served as an instructor and team leader at the Tactical Air Base in Krzesin.
