Escalation

The driver warned Lazar that the spot was for people with disabilities and asked whether he needed to identify himself. The councilor replied, “Do I have to introduce myself to you?” The driver then identified himself, after which Lazar continued to argue that he had the right to park there because his son is disabled.

During the confrontation the councilor struck the driver, an act that was captured on camera. The driver later claimed that when he turned his back on the councilor, the councilor hit him. The incident sparked a mutiny that media dubbed “Should I beat him up?”

Parking in a disabled spot without permission can lead to a fine of up to 800 zł. TVN24 also reported that on the following Tuesday, Lazar illegally entered a pedestrian zone in Rybnik’s market square and was fined. Police have launched an investigation to clarify the matter, citing irregular parking as the cause.
