Russian Citizens Suspected in Belgium Murder Arrested in Poland. New Information Emerges

Two Russian citizens suspected in a murder and assault case in Belgium were arrested in Poland. Prosecutors have revealed new details about the ongoing investigation.

Russian Citizens Interrogated in Łódź. Prosecutors Disclose Charges

On Thursday (August 28), two Russian citizens, Borys N. and Artur D., were interrogated by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Łódź. The pair were sought via a European Arrest Warrant for a serious assault and murder in Belgium. Charges related to the European Arrest Warrant were formally announced. Under Belgian criminal law, the alleged offenses constitute severe assault and murder, carrying a potential life sentence. Prosecutor Emilia Michałowska-Marchewa stated that 45-year-old Borys N. confessed and provided detailed explanations, while 33-year-old Artur D. denied committing the alleged crime.

Arrest Warrant Request. Court Decision Date Announced

The Łódź District Prosecutor’s Office has submitted a request to the court for the temporary detention of the suspects for two months. The court will determine both the detention and whether to transfer the accused to the Belgian authorities. The hearing is scheduled for Friday around 11:00 a.m., according to the statement by Prosecutor Emilia Michałowska-Marchewa, cited by PAP.

Arrest of Russian Citizens in Poland. Police Operation Details

The arrest of the Russians occurred on Tuesday (August 26). Police received intelligence about the men’s potential route, indicating they were traveling at high speed toward Warsaw. At approximately 9:15 p.m., near the Skierniewce interchange on the A2 highway, authorities set up a roadblock. The operation was meticulously coordinated to ensure the suspects’ safe detention and the protection of bystanders. Traffic on the highway was halted during the arrest, and over a dozen patrol cars from local police stations in Łowicz, Skierniewice, Brzeziny, and Zgierz were involved, enabling the effective blockade and immediate capture of the suspects.
