On Saturday (30th August), activists from Ostatnie Pokolenie carried out a protest at the entrance of Gdańsk Shipyard, one day before the anniversary of the August agreements, covering the plaques with orange spray paint.
Protest in Gdańsk
Saturday’s protest targeted Solidarity’s plaques at the Gdańsk Shipyard’s Gate No. 2, where two activists used fire extinguishers to spray orange substance on the listed historic building and the police officers present.
Legal Consequences
The activists faced possible prison sentences of up to eight years and were taken to the police station for further procedures.
Organisation’s Response
Ostatnie Pokolenie criticized the police’s actions, stating that two journalists and an onlooker were also detained during the incident. They emphasized that the movement is continuing Poland’s legacy of nonviolent resistance.
Further Plans
The organization, while advocating for the overhaul of Polish railways and bus transportation, announced plans to occupy the Sejm on 26th September, demanding the introduction of systemic, pro-social changes.
