A 48-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries after being brutally attacked by a 41-year-old with a wooden stick in Rajgród, Podlaskie Province, while using a quad bike.
Police Investigation
The police received a report on August 26th from a woman who found a bleeding man by the roadside in Rajgród. A 41-year-old man was found nearby who was suspected of attempting to commit murder. Blood alcohol content tests showed he had over two and a half times the legal limit.
Arrest and Charges
The 41-year-old suspect, who allegedly attacked his 48-year-old colleague, faces charges of attempted murder, driving under the influence, and brief vehicle use. He was arrested for three months and could face 10 to 25 years in prison.
Details of the Assault
According to the police, the 41-year-old hid in the bushes and attacked the victim who was riding a quad bike. He struck the 48-year-old with a wooden stick and continued to hit him with the stick and punches when he fell off the quad. The suspect then took the victim to his residence on the quad before returning with his 35-year-old cousin to assault the unconscious victim again. The cousin has been charged with failing to render assistance.
Statements and Arrests
Initially, the 41-year-old claimed to be riding the quad together with his 48-year-old friend before both fell off. Later, he said he inadvertently ran over his friend, claiming it was dark and he couldn’t see the man. The police did not believe his story and arrested both the 41-year-old and his cousin.
