Warsaw police arrested a 29-year-old Ukrainian man who allegedly threatened to set fire to Polish homes.
Arrest and Charges
Police from the Capital City Police District’s Department of Terrorism and Homicide arrested a 29-year-old Ukrainian on suspicion of threatening arson attacks. The suspect had posted a video online in which he threatened to burn down homes of Poles in retaliation for the denial of social assistance (“800 plus”) to Ukrainians not in work.
Documents Filed and Deportation Request
Just over a week since the police received information about his activities, the man faces charges of publicly inciting the commission of a crime. The Warsaw Police Command is collaborating with the Vistula Border Guard Unit, which will submit a request for the Ukrainian’s deportation.
Internal Ministry Response
Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński commented on the situation, stressing that there was no tolerance for breaking Polish law. “15 Ukrainian citizens with multiple convictions for crimes and misdemeanors have been expelled from Poland. Since the start of the year, over 1,100 foreign nationals have been forced to leave our country,” he noted.
