Warsaw Zoo’s firstborn Rothschild giraffe, Pomelo, marked its first birthday yesterday with a healthy turn of one year.
First Birthday Celebrations
Pomelo, a male Rothschild giraffe born on August 28, 2024 in Warsaw Zoo, celebrated his first birthday yesterday.
Early Development
The young giraffe, recognizable by the heart-shaped mark on his neck, has been growing healthily in his herd accompanied by his mother Malawi and sister Pietruszka, with proper development.
Habitat and Conservation
The Warsaw ZOO also highlighted the role of conservation breeding in preserving one of the most endangered subspecies of giraffes, the Rothschild giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi).
