Polish border guards apprehend two couriers transporting three migrants on the roads near Buk, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, with one migrant remaining at large while attempting to cross into Germany.
Migrant Smuggling Incident
On Saturday, August 30, the Polish Border Guard reported that officers in Szczecin apprehended two couriers who were transporting three migrants. During the conducted drug check, two of the foreign nationals fled towards Germany, while the third, an Afghan citizen, was detained. The incident led to the deployment of additional Border Guard and police patrols in the region, and the German authorities were also notified. Both a 56-year-old Polish man and a 54-year-old Belarusian woman were brought to the Szczecin Border Guard Placówka.
15 Ukrainians Deported
The same day, the Border Guard also informed that 15 Ukrainian citizens were deported from Poland for repeated offenses and violations. As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, these foreign nationals posed a threat to the safety and public order in Poland. Since the beginning of the year, over 1,100 foreign nationals have been forcibly removed from the country. The MSWiA emphasized, “There is no consent for violating Polish law… we act in the interest of the safety of Polish women and men.” The Ukrainians were forcibly escorted to the border and handed over to the Ukrainian side. They were charged with offenses including possession of narcotic and psychotropic substances, theft, robbery, forgery, driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as organizing the illegal crossing of the Polish border.
