Pope Leon XIV expressed deep concern about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine on Sunday, August 31st. He offered condolences to the Ukrainian people and families suffering from the war, adding “I call for a decisive appeal for an immediate ceasefire and serious engagement for dialogue.”

Prayer for Victims of Minneapolis Shooting

The Pope also prayed for the victims of a shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, stating “We embrace countless children killed and maimed daily across the world.” He called for prayers to halt “the pandemic of weapons, big and small, that poisons our world.”
