Ukrainian national deported after threatening ‘800 plus’ benefit recipients with arson

Police in Poland deported a Ukrainian citizen 31 after he threatened arson against ‘800 plus’ welfare recipients in viral social media posts.

Social Media Threats

A 29-year-old Ukrainian national living in Poland threatened arson against homes of welfare recipients in a now-deleted social media post. The video gained attention late last week, where he promised “reprisal” if the ‘800 plus’ benefit was not fully paid.

Arrest and Deportation

On August 29, while on Praga-Południe, Warsaw-based police arrested the individual as part of an investigation into public incitement to commit a crime. The following day, August 31, he was forcedly transported by border guards to Ukraine, and a 10-year ban on entry into Poland and the Schengen area.

Official Actions

Pursuant to the Internal Affairs Ministry’s announcement of “the end of the case,” border guards carried out the deportation. The General Police Headquarters stated that the 29-year-old would face charges under Article 255 of the Penal Code related to public invitation to commit a crime.
