TPN Warns of Bear Dangers
The authorities at Tatrzański Park Narodowy (TPN) reminded the public that bears can pose a direct threat to humans. “Bears generate the most interest and considerable fear among tourists…” TPN reported. The bear population in the park has maintained an average number of fifteen individuals.
How to Handle Bear Encounters
Experts advise against panicking during a bear encounter. If possible, one should calmly retreat while avoiding getting closer to the animal. “Even agitated bears usually calm down quickly if they see the person is leaving,” TPN explained. Adds that concerned bears often stand on their hind legs to observe their surroundings.
