Braun’s spokesperson faces charges for hospital intrusion in Oleśnica

Prosecutor’s spokesperson Marcin C. is facing charges for allegedly hindering a gynecologist from leaving a hospital room and performing her professional duties, and for physically restraining the doctor during a procedure in Oleśnica’s hospital.

Prosecution Charges

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław charged spokesperson Marcin C. on August 29 with preventing a gynecologist from leaving her hospital room and performing her professional duties on the gynecology ward. The alleged actions were carried out in conjunction with other people. The spokesperson for Konfederacja Polska, Grzegorz Braun, was also charged with physically restraining the doctor during the procedure.

Sources say the gynecologist was entitled to protection provided to public officials at the time of the incident.

Defendant’s Statement

Marcin C. denied guilt during a police interview and refused to provide further statements. Authorities subsequently implemented precautionary measures, including police supervision. They also barred her from contacting the complainant and maintaining a 50-meter distance from her. Marcin C. faces penalties ranging from three months to five years in prison for the alleged offenses.

Background

Grzegorz Braun appeared at a hospital in Oleśnica on April 16, during which time gynecologist Gizela Jagielska was performing a legally permitted abortion in the 36th week of pregnancy due to complications that posed a threat to the patient’s life. According to eyewitness accounts, Braun deemed his actions as a “citizens’ arrest” to confront the gynecologist.
