Former NSC head Sławomir Cenckiewicz is advising new commissioner Karol Nawrocki on potentially unsealing the 886-page Wisniowiecki report about Poland’s military intelligence agency.
Polish Presidents’ Views on Unsealing the Report
Three previous presidents had kept the report locked away, fearing it would either expose shocking secrets or risk public embarrassment. Lech Kaczyński called parts of it “far-fetched,” while Bronisław Komorowski described it as “amusing and dangerous.”
Content of the Allegedly Clandestine Aneks
The controversial 2007 document reportedly accuses Bronisław Komorowski of involvement in illegal arms trade and ties the former military intelligence agency to creating media structures and mafioso structures in Poland.
Current Decision-Making Process
President Andrzej Duda is currently considering whether to publicize the report’s contents. Karol Nawrocki may use the advice of his NSC predecessors when making his decision.
