Polish Activists Accused of Damaging Gdańsk Shipyard Gate

Three activists from the “Last Generation” group face charges of damaging a historic gate at the Gdańsk Shipyard, with possible sentences of up to eight years in prison.

Gdańsk Activists Charged

The group, consisting of Paweł, Rafał, Stanisław, Maria, and Lena, is currently held in custody at the Kurkowa Police Station in Gdańsk. This location was also where leaders of the shipyard strikes were detained during the interwar period, according to the organization.

Gate Spray Incident

The incident at Gate No. 2 of the Gdańsk Shipyard took place on Saturday, August 30th, around 9:30 AM. Police officers noticed a suspicious group and decided to conduct a check. At that time, two individuals allegedly used a fire extinguisher to spray orange powder, causing the commemorative building to be compromised.

Investigation and Charges

Police immediately subdued the individuals who sprayed the substance. The perpetrators were then taken to the precinct for procedural activities. At the scene, detectives from the investigative unit and forensic technicians were sent to secure evidence, document the scene, and review surveillance recordings.
