Fire at Bełżyce Waste Facility: Residents Advised to Close Windows

A fire broke out at the waste processing facility in Bełżyce on Monday evening, with residents warned to stay indoors and close windows due to the acrid smoke smell reaching as far as Lublin.

A fire erupted at the municipal waste processing facility on Przemysłowa Street in Bełżyce (Lublin region) at 6 PM on September 1st. Residents received SMS alerts from the Government Security Center advising them not to approach the area, close their windows, and follow emergency updates.

Water Supply Concerns

The local government issued a statement acknowledging the potential interruptions in water supply during the fire, affecting residents of Bełżyce and Krężnica Okrągła neighborhoods.

Progress of Firefighting

By Tuesday morning, fire crews had contained the fire to approximately 2,000 square meters, with 26 firefighting teams (around 40 firefighters) stationed at the scene. However, the exact duration of the firefighting effort remains unknown.
