A majority of Poles approve of President Karol Nawrocki’s veto of an extension for 800 Plus benefits to non-working Ukrainians.
Survey on Veto and 800 Plus Benefits
According to a Pollster Institute survey commissioned by Super Express, 54% of respondents agreed that 800 Plus child allowances for Ukrainians in Poland should only be given to those who are employed. 29% believe that Ukrainians should not receive the allowance at all, while 11% think it should be provided to Ukrainians “like everyone else.” 6% had no opinion.
Public Support for Nawrocki’s Veto
59.8% of respondents in a SW Research survey, commissioned by Onetu, positively assessed President Karol Nawrocki’s veto on the prolonged assistance program for Ukrainian citizens. 25.4% disapproved of the decision, and 14.7% had no opinion.
Introduction of New Legislation
Following the veto, a new draft law proposing to tie Ukrainian citizen benefits to employment has been submitted. This legislation combines elements from the 800 Plus program for working Ukrainians with provisions from the previously vetoed law.
