The Wisłę river in Warsaw hit its historic lowest record of 5cm at the Bulwars Tam station, a consequence of prolonged drought and hot weather affecting water levels nationwide.
Historic Low River Levels
The river visibly shrunk to just 5cm above its historic minimum at 4:40 AM on September 2nd, 2025, marking the lowest water levels recorded at the station. This follows a series of declines since August 25th, including a 6cm reading on August 28th and 9cm on the 25th.
Hydrological Context
Nearly two-thirds of Poland’s hydrological stations fall within the low water level range as the country experiences its third consecutive year of hydrological drought. The 156 m³/s water flow at present is notably a seven-decade low, last seen in 1951.
Water Supply Guaranteed
Despite the record-low river levels, Warsaw’s water utility company MPWiK assures that residents will not face water shortages. Their monitoring system and water purification technology maintain steady supplies.
