Czech Rail Companies Enter Polish Market, Ending PKP’s Monopoly on Kraków-Warsaw Route

Two Czech rail companies, RegioJet and Leo Express, will enter Poland’s rail market, ending PKP Intercity’s monopoly on the critical Kraków-Warszawa route.

RegioJet Launches Kraków-Warszawa Service

RegioJet will begin daily service from Kraków to Warszawa on September 18, with trains departing Kraków Główny at 8:49 AM, arriving at Warszawa Wschodnia at 12:21 PM. Return trips will depart Warszawa around 2:30 PM.

Leo Express to Offer Warsaw-Kraków-Prague Service

Leo Express will launch direct service between Warsaw, Kraków, and Prague starting March 1, 2026, with promotional fares starting at 9 zł (2 Euro). The company currently plans to increase Kraków-Prague service frequency to four daily trains by December 2025.

Tabor and Standards

Leo Express intends to use low-floor Stadler FLIRT trains equipped with a variety of passenger classes, including Wi-Fi and snacks in higher classes. RegioJet will offer trains with four classes (Low Cost, Standard, Relax, Business).
