Poland’s first Cabinet meeting under Karol Nawrocki displayed only Polish flags, with no EU flags present.
Polish President’s First Decisions Exclude EU Flag
According to Gazeta Wyborcza, the removal of the European Union flag from the office of Poland’s President Karol Nawrocki was one of his first decisions upon moving into the Presidential Palace. Chief of Staff Paweł Szefernaker had also planned to remove the flag.
Flag Controversy Sparks Questions
The absence of EU flags from the Presidential Palace was noted during a Cabinet meeting on August 27th. Polish flags were the only ones present. “During the President’s statements this week, there were three flags: Poland’s, NATO’s, and the EU’s,” commented Rafał Leśkiewicz, the President’s spokesperson. However, the spokesperson did not address reports about removing the EU flag from Nawrocki’s office.
Gift Bags and Visit to the U.S.
Gazeta Wyborcza also reported that in the previous week, business magnate Rafał Brzoska visited the Palace with his wife Olena Mensah, bringing over 20 gift bags for Nawrocki, his wife, and children. Brzoska has not yet commented on the contents of the gifts or who else received them in a similar fashion.
