North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s daughter Kim Ju-ae made her international debut in Beijing earlier this month, fueling speculations about her potential role as the future leader of the reclusive nation.
Debut International Appearance
After previously appearing in domestic propaganda media in North Korea alongside her father, 12-year-old Kim Ju-ae’s most recent public appearances have included her visit to the Russian embassy in May and her recent appearance in Beijing with her father, marking her first trip outside North Korea.
Potential Leadership Role
Experts suggest that Kim Ju-ae could potentially be preparing for a high-ranking position in North Korea’s military, which consists of 1.3 million soldiers. Her frequent presence at military events has been cited as evidence of her potential rise to power, though others speculate that her appearances could be a “show for the public” to reinforce the dictator’s paternal persona.
Continued Authoritarian Rule
The dynasty dates back to 1948 when North Korea was founded by Kim Il-sung. He was followed by Kim Jong Il and then Kim Jong Un. If Kim Ju-ae truly does become the successor, she would be the first female dictator in history.
