Donald Trump responded to a reporter’s question about his inaction concerning Russian actions, saying, “Maybe it’s time to find a new job.”
Trump’s Uncomfortable Response
The U.S. president faced a particularly pointed question during a press conference on September 3rd from a Polish reporter who pointed out that Trump has repeatedly expressed frustration with Russian actions but taken little official action. The reporter specifically referenced the lack of penalties on India, Trump’s leverage against Russia.

“If you say that not imposing secondary sanctions on India, our biggest buyer apart from China, wasn’t an action, then what constitutes an action? The initial sanctions cost Russia hundreds of billions of dollars—this is no action,” the reporter questioned Trump. The president replied, “We haven’t gotten to phase two or three yet but if you’re saying there are no actions, then maybe it’s time to find a new job.”*
Trump Plans Meeting with Zelenskyy
The U.S. president plans to meet with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the near future to try to end the war in Ukraine, which Trump described as the bloodiest since World War II.
