Polish President’s US Visit Sparks Diplomatic Tension

Presidential advisor Karol Nawrocki’s visit to the US has sparked diplomatic tension, with TV Republika accusing the Polish embassy of a “stateless action,” while former Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski denies the allegations.

On September 3rd, Polish President Karol Nawrocki arrived in Washington at dawn to meet with President Donald Trump. Upon arrival in Washington, he was greeted by Deputy Chief of the Diplomatic Protocol at the Department of State, Abby Jones, and Polish military attaché, General Dywizja Krzysztof Nolbert. However, Bogdan Klich, who serves as chargé d’affaires a.i. at the Polish embassy in the USA, was notably absent.

Polish TV accuses embassy of ‘antistate action’

According to TV Republika, “This is an antistate action! The Polish embassy in the USA is silent about the president’s visit, and Klich did not appear at the airport.” The outlet also claimed that “KO is doing everything to downplay President Karol Nawrocki’s visit to the USA and his meeting with President Donald Trump. The Polish embassy in the USA and Bogdan Klich also want to show themselves off to Tusko.” However, the portal states that Klich’s absence at the airport expresses his “positive attitude to the president.” Furthermore, “Tusko’s people are acting like spoiled children,” says the article.

Former Foreign Minister responds

Former Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski responded to allegations about the absence of Bogdan Klich. According to him, “In truth, Bogdan Klich did not appear at the airport at the request of the presidential advisor.”
