Polish Teacher Rejects “Drunk at Wedding” School Song Incident

Education Minister Barbara Nowacka says she stands by teachers after students sang an alcohol-themed song during a school event in Starachowice.

Inflammatory Anthem Ignites Education Debate

Students at Starachowice’s School No. 10 performed Daj To Głośniej’s “Wesele w Dubaju” during a school opening, featuring the lyrics “In Dubai hotel, at my wedding, I will be drunk, I will be drunk.” Critics argue the song glorifies excessive drinking and unseemly behavior.

School Denies Contextual Misinterpretation

Deputy headmistress Barbara Bedorf defended the performance, stating it was meant to illustrate the consequences of bad decisions. “The full context was about the need for personal development, the promotion of good habits, and the consequences of irresponsibility,” she said.

Disciplinary Action Taken Against Staff

Nursery school warden Urszula Sienkiewicz confirmed that teachers responsible for the performance faced disciplinary consequences, but declined to elaborate on specific measures due to procedural safeguarding.
