Man Arrested After Attacking Woman with Knife in Warsaw

On the morning of May 29, 2025, around 5:10 a.m., a man on a bicycle attacked a woman at the intersection of Czerniakowska and Gagarina streets in Warsaw, Poland. After inflicting injuries, he fled the scene. The investigation began immediately, with police analyzing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and conducting operational activities to identify the attacker.

Suspect Identification and Arrest

After reviewing hundreds of camera recordings from public and private sources, and conducting a thorough investigation, police identified the suspect in July 2025. The 36-year-old Polish citizen was subsequently arrested.

Procedural Fallout

Prosecutor Piotr Skiba, spokesman for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, confirmed the arrest. The Mokotów District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw requested temporary detention for the suspect, but the Municipal Court in Warsaw refused the request and imposed only police supervision.

Case Status

The case is being monitored by the Mokotów District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw. The suspect remains under police surveillance, meaning he is free but must comply with certain conditions, including regular check-ins with the police. The investigation continues.
