Polish Institute of National Remembrance president Karol Nawrocki is demanding the return of a Silver Cross of Merit awarded to former communist informant Jolanta Lange, whose husband also worked with the SB secret police.
Order Revoked Over Past Corruption
The cancellation of the award comes after former Polish President Andrzej Duda revoked the Medal for the Merit of National Defense from Jolanta Lange due to her connection with the Stasi, the former East German intelligence agency.
Relief Organization Involvement
Lange, along with her husband, served as collaborators with the communist-era secret police, SB. This historical involvement led to a recent investigation by the Institute of National Remembrance, which revealed their deep involvement in the surveillance activities targeting Father Franciszek Blachnicki.
Investigation and Inquiry Letter
Agnieszka Jędrzak, who handles the Bureau of Honors and nominations for President Karol Nawrocki, informed that the Polish Institute of National Remembrance has three days to return the medal or face legal action from the Polish government.
