Thunderous Noise in Wielkopolska Starts Security Probe

Residents throughout the Wielkopolska region reported hearing a series of incredibly loud bangs Wednesday morning around 9:30am, with windows reportedly rattling and buzzing.

German Eurofighter Typhoon jets completed a mission over Poland on Tuesday before returning to their base in Germany. During their return flight, the jets flew at a height above 10,000 meters while passing through the Konin region, exceeding the speed of sound.

Window-rattling noise

Residents in Konin and Kole reported hearing loud bangs that caused nearby windows to shake. One resident described it as “like three explosions,” while another reports hearing the sound downtown.

No security risks identified

In a statement issued by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, officials confirmed that the maneuver was conducted in compliance with existing procedures and safety protocols. They also assured that there were no safety risks to the public or air traffic.
