The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Polish chargé d’affaires Krzysztof Ożana on September 5th, delivering a “decisive protest” and a corresponding note regarding alleged espionage conducted by Grzegorz G.
Sparking Diplomatic Tensions
The Belarusian government maintains that G’s actions “are completely unacceptable,” “grossly violate the principles of good neighborliness,” and damage bilateral relations. They also intend to conduct a legal assessment of the incident.
Donald Tusk Responds
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Polish authorities “absolutely rule out” the scenario of a Polish monk collecting secret materials in Belarus. As of now, the government has complete information regarding the nature of the visit.
